It is that time of year again where birds are chirping like it’s going out of style and things are slowly starting to turn green. I love this kind of year because it’s warming up outside and before you know it it’s swimming season.
My children are complete water rats and all I can think about is how I’m going to squeeze myself into a swimsuit in a couple of months. I don’t want to because I don’t feel comfortable wearing one, but I enjoy being in the water with my kids! The things you do for love, right?
I Want to be THAT One!
I finally want it to be THAT year where I lose all THAT weight. It seems as if every year I see a friend of mine bragging on Facebook or so that she has lost so much weight. Her picture shows it’s true and those gals always look amazing. I ask myself why that in shape looking girl can’t be me for once. Every year I want to do it, but it’s the same vicious cycle over and over again. I can never pull through – if I even get started in the first place. How many different diets have you tried?
I’m not even sure what it is that makes it so hard for me, but I’m tired of it. I would also really love to exercise more, but never seem to find the time between entertaining my toddler, doing housework, trying to work on my blog, designing new stationery and cooking meals ALL.DAY.LONG. – every.single.day! If you’re reading this, I am sure you can relate because not being able to shed those annoying pounds is so very frustrating.
Pregnancy Weight is Stubborn
However, I have to remind myself that I am a mom of 3 and with every pregnancy a little bit of that pregnancy weight decided to hang around. Although, not after my first pregnancy. I was back to my pre-pregnancy weight within only 3 months. Are you now sitting there thinking I was one of those lucky ladies who gained about 15 lbs throughout the entire pregnancy, had a 9 lbs baby and lost the leftover 6 lbs due to breastfeeding? Nope, I promise you it was not quite like that at ALL! As a matter of fact, I had gained a whooping 45 lbs and then had a 9 lbs baby. I had a huuuuuge belly and people kept asking me about twins *eyesroll*.
Somehow all that weight just went away on its own without me doing a whole lot at all. It was nice, but I was also in my mid 20s and that’s when my metabolism was still on fire. After that it got a little rusty and failed to perform at that same rate or even close. After my 3rdchild all hell was lose because on top of the extra jiggle I got diastasis recti (separation of the stomach muscles). Doctors kept saying not to worry and it will still go away. Well, here we are 3 years later and my muscles are still 3cm apart. It causes my muscles to push outside, so I STILL look kind of pregnant. Either way, the jiggle on top must go – NOW!
No Time for Exercise
Even though I have a rough time fitting exercise in my schedule I am not saying don’t do it. If you can, please, go for it. Exercise definitely can’t hurt! However, I have found a way to lose weight without it. After all, I was once told that exercise is only accountable for 20% of weight loss or so. Food is where it’s really at!! If you just want to lose some pounds you can absolutely do that by eating better and with my 3 tricks. When you lose a lot of weight it is exercise, however, that helps your skin shrink and stay toned because the food won’t do that for you. Just something to keep in mind! If you need some ideas for great workouts you can check out my “Fit Mom” Pinterest Board here!
When I think about all the diets that exist nowadays it makes my head want to explode. From the Mediterranean, Atkins, Paleo, Whole30, Vegan, Keto Diet..and who knows whatever else there is. The biggest hype I keep hearing about is the Keto diet lately. It sure seems that a lot of people I know or run into nowadays adapt it as their choice of lifestyle. They claim to feel energetic, fit and as good as ever! I must say I believe it – I really do!
I love my Carbs!
Could I live with the reality to never eat all those carbs anymore? Or when you eat carbs you will feel miserable because your body can’t digest them right anymore? I don’t think so! As a matter of fact, I cannot and have no desire to live without bread, potatoes or pasta ever. I much rather just eat a little less of it, but our brains need carbs to think! Yes, I know..I know..you can get carbs from vegetables and so on, but either way it comes down to me not wanting to give it up. Bam! It’s the simple truth because we all know habits are hard to break and to do so you must be willing to make that change or it will get a big old “FAIL” stamp on it.

The idea actually evolved from a combination of seeing what worked for some friends and family and a bit of research I have done on my own. Here are my 3 steps to weight loss success:
Water and Freshly Squeezed Lemon Juice
Squeeze fresh lemon juice in a glass of water and drink it after you get up first thing in the morning. A friend of my husband’s has done this to lose weight and was very successful at it. The controversies are big on this one, but even if it only hydrates you well and provides your body with important vitamin C it’s a winner. It’s one more step to a healthy YOU! Drinking a glass of lemon water (I squeeze a half a lemon in my water) makes me feel refreshed and ready to start in the day.
Intermittent Fasting – 16/8
Ever heard of Intermittent Fasting? My parents are currently hooked to it (maybe a little too much if you ask me..) and they use the 16/8 way. This means they do not eat anything for 16 hours and have a window of 8 hours to eat. During the 16 hours it is important to drink water or other unsweetened drinks! I have done my own research and found that your body is already benefiting from 14 hours of not eating. This works out perfectly because I stop eating anything after 8pm and don’t start eating before 10am. It really is very doable to go 14 hours without food and let your body and organs do a little cleanse overnight. Most of those 14 hours you are asleep anyways!
Good ‘Ole Apples
I eat 2 apples a day! Why? Because it keeps the doctor away. Just kidding, but that is what my kids would say. Apples are loved by most people and besides the beneficial nutrients they help in many other ways according to healthline.com.
Apples make a great detox fruit and are good for your guts. They help to flush out the bad things from your intestines and help cleanse the liver. Apples help to not absorb fat as much and help your body to collect water and flush it out of the system along with all that bad stuff. Pectin plays a big role in that. I started eating apples regularly because I’ve noticed how bloated I felt suddenly. I didn’t even eat that much throughout the day and yet my scale showed an extra pound the next morning (for 5 days in a row). And just tell me – how.frustrating.is.that? I know! It’s like what in the world is happening??? There are plenty of other fruits and veggies to help detox your body, but I’ve found apples to be a very effective one. Not apple juice, not apple sauce, but FRESH apples!
There you have it – my 3 secrets to suddenly losing 4.5 lbs in just one week. Your results may be more or less, but I bet you can do this, too. This is as easy as anything I have ever tried! Of course, this does not mean you should eat giant portions and bonbons all day because then it will not be a successful option. If you eat normal portions and make decent food choices this can help you get at least a jump start on your weight loss journey. Here is an example of what I ate in a day during my first week when I lost 4.5 lbs without doing a single workout.
This is what worked for me and as you can see I certainly did not starve by any means. However, never ever forget to drink, drink and drink some more throughout the entire day. If you give this a try I hope it works for you as well as it did for me.
