Oh some time has flown by since my last post and a lot of things have happened since! My family and I had quite the adventurous summer last year, but we finally got to move into our own 4 walls! It took a while before we had functional internet, but now that we do it’s all better.
I have created a couple of friendship books for children and then was wondering how I could make something similar for adults. And there it was…my amazing idea to create BRIDAL SHOWER BOOKS! Boy, I wish I could have had one for my bridal shower. Having all the advice and fun in one small book – all in one place instead of a bunch of notecards flying all over the place adding to the clutter.
Self-publishing a book on Amazon
So, I’ve done it..I published 5+ different books in different sizes on Amazon. Happy CHEERS to me I heard from all over the place. Everyone seemed quite amazed and proud of me for achieving this. I was happy and quite proud of myself, but I’ve received emails from old friends and such congratulating me and what an idol I am for them. Whoa! Now, that’s what I call an accomplishment! Me? Someone people look up to? SWEET! I, personally, am not sure if I should dwell on the new fame or just break the news that it’s not that hard to self-publish a book on Amazon these days. I think I’ll enjoy the book fame a bit for now..
The real hard part isn’t publishing your book – it is to SELL it! Seriously, how many books are on Amazon published by some Joe Schmoe and they haven’t sold a single copy or no more than a couple?! I would bet my bum that there are plenty of those out there. Luckily, I can say that I don’t count to that group of self-publishers although I also have not yet sold a ton, but certainly more than a hand full.
Being discovered by people takes quite some work. Or are you one of those lucky ones that throw a product out there and get found right away? There probably are some of those out there as well, but they are certainly the minority. It takes a hell of a lot of work to be found and even then there is no guarantee the people will buy your product! Just advertising a little here & there and all that good stuff doesn’t do the trick either. A lot more than you can imagine goes into getting your work out there. However, I will stop here for now and will continue with my new endeavor in my next post….it will be all about my new start on Etsy!
